The mission of the school is to implement applied research in the field of technical sciences. With the adoption of the Regulations on Scientific and Research Activities at the College of Industrial Engineering, research activities have become the foundation for the pedagogical work of the institution.

The school has a separate organizational unit, the RESEARCH INSTITUTE, which conducts research and applied projects and is connected with regional research institutions. The Research Institute of the College of Industrial Engineering is registered in the Registry of Research Organizations at the Slovenian Research Agency under number 3178.
